Vegan Coconut Jaggery Modaks

Ganpati Bappa MORYAAA πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜ Omg guyss!! I AM SO HAPPPPPY πŸ₯³ these Vegan Modaks (sweet dumplings) were a HUGE success πŸ₯Ί Made them on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi tomorrow ☺️

Ganesh Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival celebrating the arrival of Ganesh to earth from Kailash Parvat with his mother Goddess Parvati/Gauri. This is the first time I made it at home and they turned out to be DELICIOUS 🀀 I would highly recommend to get the modak mould for this perfect shape.

You will find it any local store.

πŸ“ Posting the method today incase anyone wants to make them:

  • Heat 1/2 cup water in a pan then add 1 cup rice flour. Mix it well.
  • Add another 1/2 cup water and make sure there are no lumps.
  • Stir well and cover the pan to let the steam do its work (the gas should be switched off) 15 minutesΒ
  • In another pan roast 1/2 cup shredded coconut.
  • Mix 1/4 cup jaggery (add as per your choice in sweetness)
  • Add cardamom powder. Mix everything well to a consistency like in the picture.
  • In about 20 mins make a dough out of the rice flour that was steaming. Apply coconut oil if needed.
  • Make a small ball and insert it in the mould. Press it well and create a hole.
  • Add the jaggery coconut mixture and seal it with a thin layer of dough and Steam it for 20 minutes.

πŸ™πŸ»There you have these sweet irresistible vegan goodies with NO GHEE and pretty much the same exact taste 😎

I was not planning on shooting a video which is why the video is a little out of place, really sorry about that 😊
